MG planning to create and sell a mini EV. Here’s what we know about specs, pricing so far
Here's all we know so far.
Morris Garages (MG) is gearing up to win back its former glory in the auto market. The strong presence of the major players in the primary auto segments makes it difficult for the automaker to step up.
Therefore, MG has set its sights on the Electric Vehicle (EV) market with fewer competitors to set its comeback in motion. According to reports MG is planning to launch a small EV in the international market. The automakers claim:
Our EV is going to be one of the best value mini EVs in the market.
According to sources, MG’s latest offering is inspired by the Honda e, the Volkswagen ID.3, the Renault Zoey, the BMW i3, and the Nissan Leaf, among other small EVs.
The company’s representatives have not shared many technical details of the EV. However, experts speculate that the small electric vehicle by MG will borrow the electric powertrain from a UK-based lineup.
The MG vehicle will feature a slightly downsized ZS EV battery for an affordable price tag or be compromised in terms of interior space.
Sources further speculate that the starting price of the EV will be over 25,000 pounds. It should be noted that this price does not make the MG the cheapest option in the market.
Now only time will tell whether the EV proves to be of good value as a production-ready version or not.
