Students of Pre-Engineering are now allowed to take additional course of Biology and enter medical
It was allowed for the students of Pre Medical to take the additional subject of mathematics and enter the Pre Engineering group but this wasn’t the same for Pre Engineering students.
Although it is not possible for students to complete 200 hours of practical work, thus to act upon the notification is going to be a difficult task said FBISE. Ministry of education in Islamabad has allowed Pre Engineering students to take an additional course of biology and join the group of Pre Medical students.
The Federal Ministry of education took the decision as a result of multiple complaints of students registered on the Online Citizen Portal. The ministry has also informed that after the multiple complaints from students, the Department of Directorates and NCC took serious notice and discussed the repercussions of the changes in the policy.
After the careful consideration of NCC, it was finally decided that the students of Pre Engineering, if passed the exams can enter the group of Pre Medical by taking the exam of an additional course of Biology.
HSSC Higher Education School Certificate will have to add a national scheme of studies:
In regard to the subject of changing the new policy, a notification was issued to the stakeholders by the Ministry of Education in which it was mentioned that the HSSC Higher Education School Certificate will have to add a national scheme of studies in order to qualify for certain subjects.
It was allowed for the students of Pre Medical to take the additional subject of mathematics and enter the Pre Engineering group but this wasn’t the same for Pre Engineering students. They had to get a Medical equivalence certificate issued IBCC in order to join the Medical group.
Ever since this notification is issued, now it is not a problem for Pre Engineering students to opt for Biology if they want to by taking an additional course of Biology.
It is confirmed from Dr. Akram Ali that the notification has been released and issued from the Higher Education Ministry and all the institutes will act upon the mentioned directions and conditions.
The chairman of FBISE has also mentioned that 200 hours of practical work for biology is also needed to be completed which is hard so the new curriculum scheme on how to cater to that particular issue.
He also stated that there is no other board in Pakistan which is allowing the students to enter from Pre Engineering to Pre Medical, but if this happens, we would be the first board in Pakistan to have adopted this scheme.
