Food poisoning, after eating food from a restaurant in Karachi, claims the life of two minor brothers aged one and a half year and 5 years old. The horrific incident occurred on Sunday evening. The authorities have sealed the restaurant in the metropolis, as Karachi police reports.
SSP South Pir Muhammad Shah said that the mother of the deceased brothers was also unwell and hospitalized – undergoing treatment currently.
“Two minor brothers namely Ahmad, one and a half year old, and Muhammad, five, died from food poisoning on Sunday afternoon”– says SSP Shah.
As per police, the family dined out at Arizona Grill, located in DHA (Defence Housing Authority) Zamzama area, and then ate candy from a shop outside Chunky Monkey amusement park located in Phase IV, DHA.
Police immediately initiated the probe into the matter and sealed it for forensic investigation. Police Surgeon Dr Aijaz Khokhar says that the bodies of minors haven’t been brought to any government hospital to fulfill legal formalities, hence the cause of death exactly is still unknown.
Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh, Additional Inspector General (AIG), said to a local news source that he has directed the police to get the post-mortem examination results to reach a final conclusion.
A senior medico-legal official, who maintained his anonymity while speaking to a local news source, said that in such cases of food poisoning, private hospitals wash the stomach of the patients, losing crucial evidence. The police investigators have taken the samples of affected children’s urine, blood, and vomit from dustbin and clothes. The samples will be then sent to AKUH (Aga Khan University Hospital) for testing.
The police also revealed that the children have also consumed milk at home. Samples of that have also been sent for testing.
