Which Pakistani celebrities have never ‘endorsed’ whitening creams? Twitter reveals all!

Been refusing ever since I was a VJ till now, says Mahira Khan

British left the sub-continent, but Goora Complex never did!

The obsession with ‘Goora Rang’ is widespread across South Asia. From fairness creams’ commercials to morning shows’ tootkas, everyone is ensuring their share of voice on TV to provoke people to feel uncomfortable in their skin tone as they silently breed low self-esteem in large batches.

Recently, BBC Journalist Haroon Rashid tweeted a question saying, “This is a genuine question – can you name me Bollywood/Pakistani stars who have never endorsed a skin lightening product?”

The first Pakistani celebrity to come forward and respond to this was the superstar, Mahira Khan:
“Been refusing ever since I was a VJ till now. Never endorsed a skin lightening product.”

Following the path paved by Mahira, Singer Momina Mustehsan also shared her tweet and claimed she never endorsed any such brands either.

“Same here. Always turned down all fairness product endorsements. The amount of melanin in your skin has nothing to do with how beautiful you are. If we ALL responsibly refuse whitening endorsements, it might cause a shift in the market. We have the power to change the narrative”

Many other celebrities came forward afterwards including  among which were Ayesha Omar, Sanam Saeed, and Hareem Farooq.
