New Zealand Tour of Pakistan Postponed Over Security Concerns
It has been confirmed that the series has been postponed due to security reasons.
The New Zealand cricket board has unilaterally decided to postpone the series against Pakistan due to security concerns, the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a press release.
Earlier, there were reports of Covid-19 cases in the Kiwis camp but now it has been confirmed that the series has been postponed due to security reasons.
Earlier today, New Zealand Cricket informed us they had been alerted to some security alert and have unilaterally decided to postpone the series. Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Government made foolproof security arrangements for all visiting teams. We have assured the New Zealand Cricket of the same,” PCB said in a press release.
Furthermore, PCB also stated that the Prime Minister of Pakistan spoke personally the Prime Minister of New Zealand and informed her about the foolproof security arrangements. The New Zealand prime minister was further informed that no security threat of any kind exists for the visiting team.
Moreover, the security officials with the NZ team have been satisfied with security arrangements made by the Govt of Pakistan throughout their stay here, PCB said.
