No More Apologies – Pakistan Demands Removal Of Fayaz Chohan

Provincial Minister of Punjab for information and culture, Fayaz Chohan, is under fire again for his indecent and disparaging remarks about Hindu religion. Minister, in his urge to comment on recent Pakistan-India tensions, hit a new low by actually using disrespectful words against Hinduism, hurting the sentiments of 4 million Hindus living in Pakistan.

Last few days, when Pakistan was facing external threats, every single Pakistani was on the same page and prioritised the sovereignty of the country. No one was Hindu, Muslim or Christian – but Pakistani. When the country witnessed exemplary unity in the time of crisis, Fayaz’s comments came as an absolutely condemnable attempt to divide again and push minorities to the wall.

The derogatory comments, particularly coming from a government representative, infuriated Pakistanis, who took to Twitter demanding immediate action against him. The clip was shared by the social worker and activist Kapil Dev, hailing from Sindh, who said that despite the Hindu community’s loyalties, this is what they get in return.

”This is This is what we get in response to our love & patriotism for #Pakistan from @PTIPunjabPK Minister Fayazul Hassan Chohan using derogatory words for #Hindus “cow’s urine” peenay walo & “idol worshippers” without realizing that #4millionHindus live here. Even his party has Hindu MPs” – Kapil wrote.

This is not the first time Fayaz has uttered such disgraceful words. He previously came under fire for his humiliating remarks regarding Ahmeddiya community, stage performers, artist community and his endorsement of Salman Taseer’s murderer Mumtaz Qadri.

Though government representatives have shown their disassociation with his remarks and condemned it. However, people want more than condemnation this time and asking for his immediate removal from his position.

As per recent reports, it was said that CM Punjab Usman Buzdar has sought resignation from him. However, he rejected later saying he has been only asked to ‘clarify’ his statement, not asked to resign.
