Numbeo report: Islamabad is the second safest city in South Asia
The first spot is taken by a coastal South Indian city.
Islamabad — the Green City — has been listed as the second safest city in South Asia.
This was revealed by Numbeo, a crowd-sourced global database.
According to details, Mangalore, a city in the South Indian state of Karnataka, has been ranked as the safest city in South Asia. Mangalore has achieved a rank of 74.66 in the safety index.
The Indian city is followed by the Pakistani federal capital — Islamabad—which achieved a rank of 70.45 in the safety index.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Hamza Shafqaat, shared the achievement of the federal capital’s ranking on Twitter.

The other cities in the top ten rankings of the safest cities in South Asia are Ahmedabad (Gujarat, India), Vadodara (Gujarat, India), Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra, India), Surat (Gujarat, India), Kathmandu (Bagmati, Nepal), Jaipur (Rajasthan, India), Nagpur (Maharashtra, India), and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh, India), respectively.
Lahore — the City of Gardens — has been listed as the eleventh safest city in the region.
On the other hand, Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, has been ranked as the least safe city in the region, with a crime index of 76.55 and a safety index of 23.45.
The Afghan city is followed by Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, with a crime index of 64.91, and Malé, the capital of the Maldives, with a crime index of 64.39.
Meanwhile, the Economist Intelligence Unit has recently released the results of its Safe Cities Index 2021 in which it ranks Karachi as the second least livable city in the world.
