An Israeli newspaper has reported that Oman and Sudan have postponed normalizing ties with Israel until after the US elections.

According to the Arabic newspaper, Rai Al-Youm, the disclosure was made by the Israeli newspaper Maariv which said that the two Arab states would not offer their “precious gifts” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump before the US elections.

According to Maariv, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Washington Yousef Al-Otaiba said that Oman and Sudan are not rushing towards diplomatic ties with Israel.

This came despite frequent optimistic Israeli remarks about the possible normalization deals that could be reached with these states, according to Al-Otaiba.

Meanwhile, Maariv’s reporter Gideon Kotz declared that the speech of Oman’s foreign minister at the United Nations General Assembly, through which he repeated the Palestinian right to have an independent nation with East Jerusalem as its capital, subdued Israel’s eagerness regarding normalization.

Nonetheless, the Sudanese Deputy Head of State General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, also known as Hemedti, told Sudan24 TV in Juba on Thursday night that his nation is seeking ties with Israel and does not fear anyone in this regard.

“We’re not scared of anyone. But these will be relations, not normalization,” Dagalo affirmed, without issuing timelines or explaining what he meant of the difference between relations and normalization.

“It is true, the Palestinian cause is important, and we ought to stand with the Palestinian people,” he pressed, stressing: “We’re not talking about normalization. We are talking about relations. And these are relations from which we will benefit; this will be done with the consent and consultation of all parties.”
