Ophthalmologist urges people to donate eyes to cure blindness in Pakistan

More than three lakh people are blind in Pakistan while the number of donations by people and donor agencies together are approximately up to 1,000, Dr. Mazhar stated.

The Chairman of the Eye Donation Campaign, Dr. Mazhar Qayyum, has urged people to donate eyes in order to cure blindness in Pakistan.

Treatment of Blindness

While addressing an event at Jamia Hanfia Usmania Mosque, the Chairman said that blindness could be abstained and avoided, through the treatment of Diabetic, and Black Water patients. However, cornea diseases can be controlled through grafting.

Positive Response from People

However, since the campaign of eye donation has started, the Chairman has been able to persuade a good number of people to donate their eyes, which could be used for restoring the eyesight of blind people. The campaign is gaining attention, and the people are reacting positively, Dr. Mazhar said.

Qari Ikhlaq Madni arranged the event on the significance of donating eyes to blind people.
