These developments were revealed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OPPO Pakistan, George Long, with the Federal Minister for Industries & Production, Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiyar, in his office on Wednesday.

Long disclosed that OPPO would also establish a research and development (R&D) center in Pakistan.

This would ensure the transfer of technology from China and enhance the skill development of Pakistani information technology (I.T.) experts.

The CEO of OPPO Pakistan expressed his optimism about the South Asian country exporting local OPPO electronic gadgets.

Apart from OPPO, several other Chinese tech companies have begun establishing their production or assembly bases in Pakistan in recent months.

A few months ago, Realme announced the establishment of its local assembly plant in Lahore.

Next, in July, Xiaomi announced establishing its local assembly unit in Pakistan in a few months.

Later in August, Vivo declared its intentions to build a production base in the Industrial Estate of Faisalabad.

Vivo has also invested $10 million for the plant’s establishment.

Apart from the Chinese tech companies, South Korean electronics giant Samsung announced in July that it would start assembling mobile phones in Pakistan by the end of this year.

The South Korean tech company has entered into a joint venture with Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) —a subsidiary of Lucky Cement— to assemble the mobile phones.

The plant would be built in Karachi’s Bin Qasim Industrial Park (BQIP) at LMC’s existing plant.

A week ago, it was revealed that Samsung is also planning on setting up a television (T.V.) line-up facility in Karachi.

The T.V. line-up facility would be established in collaboration with R&R Industries.
