With the Pak Vs. Aus semi-final match approaching next, Pakistanis are looking back at the history between the two cricketing teams. Many social media users are remembering the match played in St. Lucia on the 14th of May in the 2010 T20 World Cup.

Recap of the 2010 T20 World Cup

Pakistani star batsmen Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, and Saeed Ajmal set a 192 run target for Australia in the 2010 Pak Vs. Aus match. Given Saeed Ajmal’s excellent bowling, Pakistanis were convinced that their team was playing for the win.

The presumption was going strong until the 20th over of Australia’s innings. Captain Shahid Afridi handed the ball to Saeed Ajmal for the last over to finish the match exceptionally. Australia was still 18 runs down from the target with Michael Hussey and Mitchell Johnson in the crease.

It should be noted that these were the days when Saeed Ajmal was at the peak of his career. The world’s greatest batsmen used to kneel before the Pakistani player’s magical bowling. However, destiny had a different route planned for the day.

On the first ball of the last over, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson took a single and gave the strike to Michael Hussey. The Australian batsman unleashed a terrific performance as he hit Saeed Ajmal with three sixes and a four to win the match for his country. A match that favored Pakistan from the start shifted sides in the last over, leaving Saeed Ajmal a picture of helplessness at the cricketing ground.
