Pakistan Army has officially confirmed the induction of the Chinese origin third-generation Main Battle Tank VT-4 in its armed arsenal.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, visited Field Firing Ranges near Jhelum to see the live demonstration of the Main Battle Tank VT-4 on Tuesday.
Following the demonstration, The COAS expressed satisfaction over the performance of the VT-4.
Pakistan has strengthened its defensive capabilities with the induction of the VT-4 tank. This year in July, Pakistan Army also inducted the upgraded version of indigenously designed Main Battle Tank Al Khalid-I.
Features of VT-4
The VT-4 tank is 10.10 meters long with gun forward, 3.40 meters wide, and 2.30 meters high.
Three crewmembers can fit in the tank, which has a functioning range of 500 km and a maximum speed of 70 km/h. There is also a remote defense station on its top with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.
The fire control system of the VT-4 has hunter-killer capabilities, panoramic sight, a laser rangefinder, and a third-generation thermal imaging system.
As far as safety is concerned, the VT-4 tank has been equipped with an inflammable reactive armor, GL5 powerful protection system, defensive weapon launchers, and a laser-warning device.
The tank also has an IFF system, fire extinguishing system, NBC protection, explosion suppression system, and air conditioning system.
