Pakistan Beats India in South Asian Badminton Championship to Clinch Gold
A 2-1 win over the Indian duo of Sarath Dunna and Sai Charan Koya saw Pakistan take the gold at the U21 South Asian Regional Championship 2019. The event was held at Addu City in the Maldives.
The Pakistani team comprised of Raja Zulqarnain Haider and Mohammad Adnan, who outclassed their opponents in the three games match. After taking the first game 15-21, the Indian duo couldn’t take their first game performance into the next two games.
Zulqarnain and Adnan won the next two games 21-11 and 21-19 to emerge as the best team of tournament and take the gold. Pakistan had qualified for the final after beating Sangay Lhendup and Jamyang Tenzin of Bhutan 2-0 in the semi-final. Their victory in the quarter final came against the Nepali pair of Prince Dahal and Praful Maharjan.

Not just that, Pakistan also won bronze in the mix team category of the event following victory over Bhutan. The Pakistani girls— Amal Muneeb and Miss Mehwish Khan— teamed up with Raja Zulqarnain Haider to take the bronze.
