Pakistan’s cement exports increase 46.5% in June

In terms of quantity, cement exports increased by 10.79%.

The export of cement from Pakistan increased by 46.52% in June 2020 as compared to the same month of last year.

As per the data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cement exports were written down at $16.935 million in June 2020, as against the exports of $11.558 million in June 2019.

Nevertheless, on a month-on-month basis, the export of cement decreased by 12.27% in June 2020 as compared to the shipping of $19.303 million in May 2020.

In the meantime, on a cumulative basis, the country’s cement exports witnessed a decrease of 4.52% during the fiscal year 2019-20, as against the corresponding period of last year.

The country exported cement worth $259.441 million during the FY20, as against the exports of $271.728 million during the same interval last year.

In terms of quantity, cement exports increased by 10.79%, from 6,411,359 metric tonnes to 7,103,373 metric tonnes.

It is relevant to mention that the country’s trade deficit noticed a significant reduction during the  FY20, declining by 27.12pc as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
