“Pakistan is now heading towards the milestone of its digital economy,” GSMA report

The GSMA report further indicates that the mobile industry would lead the digital initiative in Pakistan.

The government of Pakistan and mobile industry executives have launched a report titled “Pakistan, Progressing towards a Digital Economy”. The report highlights the significance of the mobile sector in understanding the country’s digital vision.

According to the report, “Pakistan is now heading towards the milestone of its digital economy”. The report further reflects on how the mobile industry has been redefining the way individuals, corporations, and state bodies function can interact.

In this regard, an event was held at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to discuss how Pakistan could advance in digital and economic inclusion through mobile gadgets.

The Head of Asia Pacific, GSMA, Julian Gorman, exclaimed her opinion on Pakistan with her words, “The GSMA praises the digital leadership and vision of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, for the successful partnership with our industry during the Covid-19 epidemic”.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque, said, “The government, along with the private sector and the extensive mobile ecosystem, must work together to deliver the promise of a Digital Pakistan.”

The GSMA report further indicates that the mobile industry would lead the digital initiative in Pakistan. This will help with employment opportunities, productivity gains, and improve GDP.

  • There should be massive drive towards increasing the literacy rate, which in turn will increase the number of people moving from the conventional ways towards digital.
