Former Atletico Madrid coach joins Pakistan Football Federation: Hope for Pakistani football?

Huge steps are being taken to develop football as a sport in Pakistan. The Former Atletico Madrid coach, Daniel Limones, has been appointed as the Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) Normalization Committee’s technical director.

The PFF issued a press release which stated:

Limones was previously associated with Spanish La Liga giants Club Atletico de Madrid. He was working with the club’s academy in Lahore as the head coach and academy manager.

According to reports, Limones also has work experience in other Spanish Leagues and clubs, including Rayo Vallecano.

Limones has now taken up the role of PFF’s technical director. Under this title, he is responsible for coming up with plans that help advance football as a major sport in Pakistan. Regarding this Limones stated:

The opportunity and possibilities that this new stage has are innumerable. Football in Pakistan continues to be a blank canvas on which players, coaches, clubs, and the federation itself can shape the future of football for the new generations. We can work together with a forward-looking mentality.

The Chairman of the PFF Normalization Committee, Humza Khan, expressed his delight on Limones’ appointment.

He said:

We fully believe that his addition to the setup will help Pakistan football flourish.

Humza Khan’s comment on the matter further stresses that many sports enthusiasts will now be triggered to pursue opportunities that enable Pakistan’s representation on international platforms under Limones’ direction.
