‘Biggest game in world cricket’: Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist react to Pakistan vs India clash at T20 World Cup 2022
Vaughan said that the Ashes isn't the biggest game in world cricket.
Pakistan and India will once again face each other in the T20 World Cup as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule earlier today. The two teams will battle it out at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23rd.
Despite the viewership and the revenue an India and Pakistan match generates, many Australian and England cricket teams’ legends still won’t agree that it is the biggest game in world cricket. However, Michael Vaughan is surely not among these legends.
Reacting to Pakistan and India clash at the T20 world Cup 2022, Vaughan said that the Ashes isn’t the biggest game in world cricket.
“I think, we being England and Australia ex-players, we all kind of think of the Ashes as the biggest game in world cricket, it’s not! India vs Pakistan is the biggest game. Looking forward to Rohit Sharma being the captain, probably the first time he’s going to be under real pressure. It’s going to be an epic event,” Vaughan said on a Star Sports show.
Australia wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist believes that the Indian cricket team will be fired, after what happened in Dubai on October 24 last year.
“Huge rivalry. We all know about that. India will be particularly fired up given what happened back in November where Pakistan registered a 10-wicket victory. So, the rivalry just grows and what a venue to have,” said Adam Gilchrist.
The Men in Green will be much confident while facing the arch-rivals after registering their first ever win against them in a World Cup. On the previous occasions, India always had the psychological advantage of always winning against Pakistan in the world cup. But now, things have changed and Pakistan’s 10 wicket victory in Dubai has turned the tables.
