The government has decided to review an ‘Employment Generation and Empowerment’ system comprising the ‘Naya Mazdoor’ initiative for the working class.

The framework will provide an all-encompassing solution for six primary areas of the workforce development in Pakistan. It includes employment, development, reforms, empowerment, welfare, and labor laws implementation.

The International Labor Organization has also shown interest in the initiative for future cooperation.

Pakistan ranks 8th on the list of nations with the highest prevalence of present slavery and 134th on the United Nation’s Global Sustainable Development Goals Index. The system will help the country in attaining 9 of the 17 goals.

Earlier, the government announced a job creation target of 10 million, projecting that Pakistan can surpass this by making sustainable investments in workforce expansion and quick data analysis.

To utilize the workforce’s full potential, both the federal and provincial governments will cooperate to boost economic activity and draw investments.

As per the proposed scheme, local and international companies will be authorized to establish operations in Pakistan with a readily available and proficient workforce.

With digital disruptions and transformation, a system will be formulated to connect multiple government organizations to the workforce and improve e-governance.

The Naya Mazdoor initiative will include skill mapping, geo-mapping, up-skilling for domestic and international employment. It also includes data mining, technical skills training, and the development of labor-related institutions across the country.
