Pakistan is set to further cut down the cost of fuel, making it the country with the lowest prices in South Asia.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan announced that a decrease in the price of petroleum products has been approved by the government. He added that Pakistan has reduced the prices of kerosene oil, light diesel oil, and petrol as well.

The revised prices will remain effective until the 30th of June 2020. Pakistan has the cheapest fuel cost compared to any other country in South Asia.

India has almost double the prices, while Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh are all 50% to 70% more expensive.

The Ministry of Finance announced that this decision was taken after consultation with representatives of the International Monitory Fund (IMF) to provide relief to the citizens amid the coronavirus pandemic.
