Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is the most ”weaponized” party at the moment
According to the reports, 47 members of the Sindh Assembly proclaimed owning weapons, out of which the majority is from Pakistan People’s Party.
Talking about PPP (Pakistan People’s Party), if 100 people are working at the moment, more than half of them have declared that they own firearms, which makes them the most weaponized party of the legislative body of the country.
According to the 2018 analysis report of liabilities and assets of lawmakers, the only party that currently possesses weapons in both the provincial assemblies and their houses is PPP.
Other than PPP, 34 other lawmakers are found to be possessing their own weapons, out of which 20 are from PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf), 10 from GDA (Grand Democratic Alliance) and PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz) about five each, and the remaining four belong to BAP (Balochistan Awami Party).
Apart from that, 19 members from the National Assembly recently declared owning various weapons in their assets’ record, out of which six members are from PTI and PPP, four from MQM and PML-N (about two each), and two from Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and GDA, aside from one independent member.
AAZ declares weapons:
Asif Ali Zardari is one of the most prominent members of the National Assembly that have declared weapons, and he has the biggest arsenal as he has claimed weapons worth PKR 16.5 million. Federal ministers, Sheikh Rashid and Fehmida Mirza are also included in the list.
According to the reports, 47 members of the Sindh Assembly proclaimed owning weapons, out of which the majority is from Pakistan People’s Party (around 40). Whereas in Punjab Assembly, ten people have declared owning weapons, out of which seven are from PTI, one is from PPP, and the remaining two are from PML-N.
In KPK, the number of people who have proclaimed owning weapons has been the lowest. Six members of the KPK Assembly have declared having weapons, out of which three are from PTI, one is independently elected member, and one is from ANP; besides, one from PPP. Whilst in Balochistan, eight members of the assembly, have declared the possession of weapons, where four belong to BAP and one each from HDP (Hazara Democratic Party), BNP and BNP-A.
