Pakistan Suffers a Great Loss As Balochistan’s First Female Heart Surgeon Passes Away
Dr. Mehnaz Marri, who honoured Pakistan with her matchless services in the capacity of first female surgeon hailing from Balochistan, passed away earlier this week.
Gone too soon, the cause of death is still unknown. Balochistan Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar claimed on his Twitter handle that gas leakage caused her death. However, few sources also claim that the death was caused because of the brain haemorrhage. Young doctor got engaged on December 2 and was getting married in January.
The irreplaceable loss of dealt of a young, capable and intellectual human being has saddened everyone and the prominent political personalities as well as social media community expressed their condolences.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid wrote that the country lost a ‘precious asset’ – which indeed we did.
“The nation has lost a precious asset as well as a beautiful person. May Allah grant her Jannah and her family patience” – said health minister on Twitter.

Hailing from a conservative district Kohlu. Dr Mahnaz Marri worked as the consultant cardiovascular surgeon at consultant cardiovascular surgeon at NICVD (National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases). She completed her medical education from Agha Khan University and was a Gold Medalist Cardiovascular Surgeon. During her personal and professional career, Marri faced many difficulties and hindrance however they didn’t affect her determination to serve in the prestigious field. Breaking stereotypes, she emerged as the first female cardiovascular surgeon from the underprivileged province.
The bright star also served as assistant professor of cardiac surgery Bolan Medical University, Quetta, Balochistan. The news came as a shock to people, and the social media community expressed their grief on the young woman’s untimely demise.
