India’s long established defense partners

The country is now looking at export markets in third countries. However, these countries are in India’s neighborhood and are New Delhi’s long-established defense partners in Africa.

Pakistan plans to sell these jets to India’s neighbor Myanmar and its old defense partner Nigeria, built with the assistance of China. However, with Chinese assistance, Myanmar has already purchased four JF-17s. Pakistan also plans to export JF-17 Azerbaijan, Malaysia and additional jets to Nigeria.

Chinese Assistance

According to the source, the subject of supplying Chinese fighter jets and other military hardware to Pakistan for exports to other countries was on the high meeting agenda between Pakistan’s Chief General Bajwa and Chinese leadership last week.

“Pakistan’s reliance on Chinese military hardware will grow. China has signed a contract to supply eight new submarines to Pakistan’s navy… Although neither party has revealed the value of the contract, Western defense analysts say it could be worth from $4 billion to $5 billion depending on weapon systems and other add-ons,” according to a report in NikkeiAsian Review.

According to several other reports, Pakistan with the assistance of China will increase the production of tanks and other hardware. Moreover, the hardware could be exported to third countries in future. Pakistan with the help of its ally China will create a more commercially run defense industry.
