The government of Pakistan has decided to sell state-owned unused land at the Expo 2020, Dubai. The funds generated through this step will help sustain the economy of Pakistan.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister of Pakistan made the decision during a meeting.

The main objective of selling the unused property is to attract overseas Pakistanis and foreign investors to Pakistan. Welfare schemes like education, housing, health, and food will benefit from the selling of the land.

Minister for Ports and Shipping, Ali Haider Zaidi, Minister for Privatisation Mian Muhammad Soomro, Assistant Secretary for Overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Spokesperson to Prime Minister Nadeem Afzal Chen and federal secretaries attended the meeting.

“These underutilized state properties will be marketed at the Dubai Expo to attract foreign and Pakistani investors to buy these assets”, Privatization Secretary Rizwan Malik informed the prime minister during the meeting.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that regardless of having land worth billions of rupees, every year state institutions were bearing losses of billions of rupees.

Strict Action:

PM Khan also warned that strict actions will be taken against government officials who fail to classify unused properties.

Moreover, PM further ordered the concerned authorities to resolve all issues related to identified properties within a week, so that the government order can be implemented immediately.

”In the first phase, every ministry was ordered to identify three unused lands, Rizwan Malik. So far, 32 such properties have been identified”, added Rizwan.
