Following the agreement, Turkey’s Maarif Foundation, which currently has an international non-governmental organization’s status, will be treated as a Turkish government institution in Pakistan.

Harun Küçükaladağlı, the organization’s country director for Pakistan, expressed optimism on the move.

“After this, Maarif Foundation will expand its operations in Pakistan in terms of opening new campuses, cultural and educational centers, language centers, student exchange programs, and scholarships,” Küçükaladağlı said.

In the aftermath of signing the agreement, the Maarif Foundation’s activities and operations will fall under the Pakistani and Turkish governments’ ambit.

The Maarif Foundation currently has around 27 schools and colleges across Pakistan that provide education to about 12,000 students in 10 cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
