Pakistan and Turkey to enhance cooperation in the field of education

Ministerial-level talks held between both the states in which the steps to enhance the bilateral cooperation in education, in particular, vocational and technical education were discussed.

Bilateral relations that started off with the support of United India in the Crimean War, both Pakistan and Turkey share cultural, historical, diplomatic, and friendly ties ever since the independence of the former. Jointly the members of ECO both countries to further the educational and cultural linkages.

Ministerial-level talks held between both the states in which the steps to enhance the bilateral cooperation in education, in particular, vocational and technical education were discussed.

According to the report of The News, the development comes as Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood leading a five-member delegation met with the Turkish Minister for National Education Zia Selcuk in Turkish capital city.

Turkish Minister for Education said that Pakistan occupies a very special place in the eyes of the people of Turkey and both the states had supported each other throughout history. He also said that his country will never forget the support rendered by the people of Pakistan during the Turkish War of Independence, Canakkale War, and the July 2016 failed coup attempt.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s handing over of Pak-Turk Schools to the Maarif Foundation of Turkey. The minister also expressed his keen desire to further enhance education ties.

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Education Mr. Shafqat Mehmood thanked the Turkish hosts for the warm hospitality and said that the people of his country have genuine love and respect for the Turkish people.

He, particularly, thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his steadfast support for the people of Occupied Kashmir and appreciated his bold speech in the recent United Nations General Assembly’s 74th Session.

The defense relations between both the friendly countries are also on a boost with the construction of four naval warships by Turkey for Pakistan. Both the states also enjoy high-level inter-state tours and Turkey also supports Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir.
