It has been months since Joe Biden has become the U.S. president, but he has not even called PM Imran Khan at least once.

Pakistan is using its ‘good offices’ of an influential Pakistani American to arrange a call between the Prime Minister, Imran Khan, and the U.S. President, Joe Biden.

This was revealed by sources to the media outlet Express Tribune.

It is pertinent to note that even though it is common for newly elected U.S. presidents to speak with prime ministers from across the globe, the current U.S. President, Joe Biden, has not telephoned PM Imran Khan.

Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, was critical of Pakistan during his election campaign.

However, Trump did not even wait for his swearing-in-ceremony to call to speak to then prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Trump even called Nawaz Sharif a “terrific guy.”

However, it has been months since Joe Biden has become the U.S. president, but he has not called PM Imran Khan.

Observers say that this could suggest that Pakistan was no longer a priority for the United States.

Pakistan has expressed its frustration over this issue, and PM Imran Khan has tried to downplay this issue saying in one of his recent interviews that the U.S. president might be busy.

However, according to sources cited by The Express Tribune, Pakistan has approached an “influential” Pakistani American to arrange a call between PM Imran Khan and U.S. President Joe Biden.

This influential Pakistani American is a friend of Joe Biden, and Islamabad is trying to use his ‘good offices.’

It is pertinent to note that Pakistan has, in the past, used informal channels of communication with U.S. presidents.

During the Trump era, Pakistani established direct contact with the U.S. President using Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and the Saudi Crown Prince and de facto ruler, Mohammed bin Salman (MbS).

U.S. Senator Lindsay Graham, who was impressed by PM Imran Khan’s vision, also played a crucial role in establishing contact between Trump and PM Imran.

Due to these channels, PM Imran Khan met Donald Trump thrice in such a short period.

However, some analysts say that Biden has taken a different approach.
