Pakistan vs India in a tri-series? Cricket Australia Chief shares good news

Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley’s statement about hosting a tri-series with India and Pakistan has given cricket fans great hope of seeing the two arch rivals play against each other outside ICC tournaments. The CA chief said that his country will be happy to host the two arch-rivals.

India and Pakistan hasn’t played bilateral cricket for nearly a decade due to the tension on the border between the countries. However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently proposed a 4-national tournament, involving India, Pakistan, Australia and England.
Ramiz Raja had said that he will pitch the idea to ICC and the profits can be shared on percentage basis with all ICC members. India and Pakistan has been playing against each other only in ICC tournaments. The two arch rivals will face each other in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Although, the Cricket Australia Chief Executive Hockley said that his board hasn’t talked about a 4-nation series but they are willing to host Pakistan and India in a tri-series.

“Personally, I really like the tri-series concept. It’s worked well in the past,” Hockley told reporters in Rawalpindi.

He added: “We’d be very open to hosting … matches.”

He further stated everyone is excited for the India and Pakistan cricket matches and they will be happy to help create further opportunities for the two teams to compete against each other.
