Pakistani-Canadian business tycoon donates Rs 10m to Prime Minister’s special Coronavirus fund

Pakistani-Canadian business tycoon and philanthropist Mr. Aziz Rakla has donated Rs. 10 million to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special COVID-19 fund. PM established the fund and requested people, especially the overseas Pakistanis, to donate.
“Prime Minister’s COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Fund-2020 has been set up to help us fight this pandemic. I want everyone to donate towards this fund which will be used to take care of all those who have been made destitute by the lockdown,” the Prime Minister announced on Twitter.
Answering to the PM’s call, Mr. Rakla made a generous donation to do his part. However, this is not the first time. Mr. Rakla, with his business expertise, is also known for his philanthropy.
Who is Aziz Rakla?
Mr. Aziz Rakla is known for his affiliation with The Citizens Foundation (TCF), Canada. The foundation, to which he served as president to as well, works to empower underprivileged children in Pakistan.
While voluntarily serving as the president of the TCF, Rakla successfully built a network of volunteers across Canada and achieved special charity status in the country.
Not just this, Rakla, from his own pocket, contributed towards three government schools. He built 16 units of TCF schools across Pakistan and personally supports the education of 3000 children every month. He has also built a clinic in collaboration with SINA Health, Education and Welfare Trust, which is dedicated to providing affordable and quality healthcare facilities to the slums of Karachi.
Currently, he is working to build a new masjid in Mississauga, where the growing number of parishioners can worship. Rakla was also awarded the Humanitarian Award by the Canada-Pakistan Business Council in 2008 for his philanthropic work.
In 2012, he was also awarded Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Rawal Lifetime Achievement Award for Education in 2013.
