The US Embassy Islamabad took to Twitter on Monday to recognize and applaud the contributions of a Pakistani engineer, Ahmad Awais, in the Mars 2020 helicopter mission. According to sources, the award-winning open-source engineer contributed code to the software for the Mars 2020 helicopter mission, also known as NASA’s Ingenuity Helicopter.

The official tweet of the US Embassy Islamabad read:

Pakistani developers are truly making their mark in the world. #DidYouKnow Ahmad Awais (@MrAhmadAwais), a Pakistani award-winning open-source engineer, contributed code to the software for the Mars 2020 helicopter mission, also known as NASA’s Ingenuity Helicopter?

It should be noted that this is not the first time Pakistanis have garnered praise in the Information Technology (IT) field. Previously, 15-year-old Pakistani app developer Nabeel Haider created an alternative instant messaging app, FF Meeting, that he claims works even better than the existing communication applications.

According to details, Haider hails from Karachi and has always shown a keen interest in app development. His efforts led him to meet with the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Amin-ul-Haque. The Minister praised the teenage IT expert for his dedication and offered him a chance to refine the app under expert supervision.
