Nine Pakistani players to play in the Lanka Premier League [Complete List & Salaries]
When it comes to T20 cricket, Pakistani players are always in great demand. Things weren’t so different when the draft for third edition of the Lanka Premier League was held yesterday.
A total of 9 Pakistan players were picked by different franchises. The players who bagged big contracts include Imad Wasim, Asif Ali, Shoaib Malik, Faheem Ashraf, Azam Khan, Haider Ali, Shahnawaz Dahani, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Usman Shinwari.
There were more than 300 players who made themselves available for the draft. However, not everyone could be picked as the rules allowed each franchise to pick a maximum squad of 20 players with not more than 6 overseas players in their camp.
Imad Wasim was picked in the highest category, International Ruby, by Galle Gladiators having a pre-draft retainer of $60,000. Explosive Pakistani batter Asif Ali and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who recently missed out on a PCB central contract, were picked by Colombo Stars and Galle Gladiators respectively in the International Sapphire category with a retainer of $50,000.
