Despite having one of the best T20 players in the world, Pakistani cricketers are banned due to the political situation between the two countries. However, they did feature in the inaugural edition of the IPL and played an important part in the victories of its teams.

Umar Gul $150K
Pakistan’s T20 specialist bowler Umar Gul played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2008. He had a great time in the 6 matches he played as he took 12 wickets at an average of 15.33.
Kamran Akmal $150K
The wicket keeper batter was bought for 150K US dollars by the Rajasthan Royals. He scored 128 runs in six matches. Akmal highest score remains 53 in the IPL.
Younis Khan $225K
The 2009 T20 World Cup winning captain was another Pakistani player who was picked by the Rajasthan Royals. However, he played only one game and scored 3 runs.
Shoaib Akhtar $425K
Shoaib Akhtar was one of the expensive signings of the inaugural IPL edition. However, he was stopped from participating in the IPL after being banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board for five years. He picked up 5 wickets in his three games including his best performance of 4/11.
Shoaib Malik $500K
The all-rounder was the third most expensive Pakistani player to play in the IPL. Malik represented Delhi Capitals and scored 52 runs in 7 matches while he also picked two wickets.
Mohammad Asif $650K
The right arm pacer was Delhi Capitals’ pick to strengthen their bowling attack. He got eight wickets in as many matches in the IPL 2008.
Shahid Afridi $675K
Boom Boom Afridi was the most expensive Pakistani player to play in the IPL. He was bought by Deccan Chargers and played 10 matches for them. Lala scored 81 runs with the bat and also picked 9 wickets.
