Pakistani startup among Google’s Accelerator Program focused on Sustainable Development Goals
The program received applications from around 1,200 startups from the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
A Pakistani startup is among eleven businesses from around the globe who are successful candidates of a program called Google for Startup Accelerator on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
These startups aim to address a wide range of social and environmental challenges. They are working towards at least one of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.
The program received applications from around 1,200 startups from the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Among all the entries, WonderTree became the only startup from Pakistan to win.
WonderTree is a tech company whose leading project is “WonderGames.” Through Using Augmented Reality, WonderTree makes interactive games for academic, motor, cognitive development, and education of children with special needs.
The company is deployed in five cities across Pakistan; it engages more than 4000 active users in nearly 40 schools. It is the only company using the latest technology to meet the particular needs of the marginalized population of Pakistan. Currently, the company is working towards spreading its operations in Africa, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
The five-month program will start on April the 21st, and a second group will be selected later in the year.
