What are the key elements of good governance? They are public accountability, transparency, provision of basic rights to citizens, and improved law and order situation. By launching the first-ever Human Resource Management System, the provincial government of Punjab has taken a step towards good governance and institutional reforms.

Electronic governance is the application of communication technology to make available the information in a more convenient and efficient manner. This system of governance is meant to improve the transparency in service delivery and lessens the corruption – one of the major problems confronting Pakistan.

Punjab Government has launched the paperless Human Resource Management System in the decades’ long history of the country. Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has informed in a tweet that the whereabouts of around 400,000 government teachers were available online and they would not have to move around the offices for the solution of their petty matters.

The transfer of around 20,000 teachers was done in the last two months without any political involvement, corruption or recommendations, he added. He called the move an important milestone towards the elimination of corruption.
