Paragon City scam: Khawaja brothers case over fund embezzlement extended till October 5

On Tuesday, in the Paragon city scam, an accountability court increased judicial remand of formal railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique.

In response to the absence of Khawaja brothers in the last hearing SP Headquarters, Syed Karar appeared and explained the reasons to the court. He further added full security was supplied to the officials but there was a little delay.

During the last hearing, jail officials complained to the Presiding Judge Jawadul Hassan that enough security was not provided to them so that they can bring the suspects to the court.

“It amounts to interference in the court affairs,” the judge said.

The judge was very irritated with the situation and asked the officer now the police will decide who will appear before the judge and who would not.

The judge further said that the matter will meet its logical end and the accountable one will be taken down.

The hearing was adjourned until October 5 due to the absence of Khawaja brothers from the court.

Paragon City Scam

Both Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique are imprisoned. NAB accuses them of wrongly gaining Rs18.2 million from M/s Paragon City (Pvt) Limited in their bank accounts.

According to the source, the suspects have been allegedly charged with embezzlement along with other partners. They have obtained illegal financial benefits from the fund and cheated the public at large. Lahore high court rejected their bail.
