Passport Fee Asaan: Govt develops app for online passport payments

The Directorate-General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has developed a mobile application (app) for making online payments for passport. The app will help you get rid of standing in the long queues outside passport offices across the country.

Interior Minister Rana SanaUllah Khan took to his Twitter account to share the news. He wrote that he is happy to announce the passport payment app developed by the DGIP, which will put a “full stop to long queues and cumbersome trips to the banks.”

Citizens will be able to make all their passport payments online through the app. This online payment system will be operational by the end of this month.     

It is part of practical steps taken by Head of Prime Minister’s Strategic Reforms Unit Salman Sufi in the light of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of digital economy to ensure convenience of the people.

Through the Passport Fee Asaan app, users will be able to calcutate and pay their passport fee via a simple interface. Furthermore, the payment challan generated by the app can be paid via ATM, internet-banking or 1-link member bank branches.

It will be available on both iOS and Android. The app can also be used to register complaints and inquire about the status of payments.
