Patients in Punjab Get Free Liver Surgery Facility Under Health Card

Patients in Punjab will be provided free liver surgery facility under the provincial government’s health card programme.

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi gave approval to include complicated liver surgery in the health card programme. He also increased the funds of the programme for this purpose.

The Chief Minister added that complicated heart surgery of children would also be made part of the programme to facilitate the masses.

Liver, kidney and pancreas surgeries will be performed at the Bahria international hospitals. Bahria International Hospital Vice-President Dr Shazia Malik met the CM and assured him of their cooperation.

All the facilities, operation and post operation, will be provided by Bahria international hospitals under health card.

Earlier this year, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government facilitated the province’s first liver transplant surgery free of cost under Social Health Protection Initiative (SHPI).

Liver transplant is extremely expensive and KP government provides free treatment to only selected poor patient under the SHPI.
