Here’s why PCB has decided to hire Pakistan Army doctors for PSL
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to hire Pakistan Army doctors for each team during the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), according to The News. The military doctors will be hired as part of the cricket board’s measures against Coronavirus.
According to the report, every PSL team will have the services of a doctor from Pakistan Army Medical Corps during the entirety of PSL 7. Furthermore, players and officials of each PSL team will have to undergo rapid antigen tests at the hotel everyday.
The Pakistan Army’s doctor will be conducting the health tests as well as recording the body temperatures of the players’ participating in PSL. It has also been revealed that the military doctors were hired during last PSL as well.
PCB has also issued guidelines for local and foreign players, according to which, a negative PCR test report (max 72 hours old) before leaving their home or country is mandatory.
When the players arrive for the Karachi leg of the tournament, they will be tested for Covid-19 again. Only those with two negative tests in a week will be allowed to enter the bio-secure bubble.
Moreover, to minimise to risk of Covid-19, PCB has decided to arrange chartered flights instead of commercial flights to move players from Karachi to Lahore. A maximum of two teams will be allowed to board the chartered flight.
