People Disappointed Over Umar Saif’s Removal As Chairman PITB – Twitter Reacts

Talking to local media sources, Umar Saif confirmed that Punjab Government has approved summary to replace him from his position. No notification in this regard has been issued yet, but Umar took to his Facebook announcing his farewell and extending his best wishes for the future.

He said that it is in government’s domain to replace him and appoint anyone they want. He said that he wishes the one who replaces him takes his vision forward.

Dr Saif, who is also serving as Vice Chancellor of ITU (Information Technology University) Lahore, said that he had the privilege to serve the country for as long as he could beyond provincial boundaries and divides. He said that PITB (Punjab Information Technology Board) became a driving reform engine for the government and he took ITU to unmatched heights, making it one of the best technology institutions with close to 100 faculty members.

”I served 5 successive governments and established two institutions: PITB, which became the main reform engine for the government with over 300 projects in Punjab and other provinces, and ITU, which in just 5 years, became one of the premier technology universities of Pakistan with close to 100 PhD faculty members” – Umar wrote in his Facebook post. 

Dr Saif concluded by saying that he gave these institutions the best of his energy and is hopeful that those who come in future will take them forward.

Dr. Saif graduated from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He led projects such as PlanX, Plan9, and Tech Hubb Connect at PITB. Under his leadership, the board also played a critical role in digitalising the police department and land records.
