Peshawar session court has handed 105 years in prison to a school principal found guilty of raping and harassing a student.
The convict, Ataullah Marwat, is a private school’s principal and is found responsible for child abuse, rape, pornography, blackmailing and maintaining illicit relationships. Ataullah has also been with Rs 1.4 million with the jail term. The sentences were handed down by Sessions Judge Younis Khan.
The accused was arrested after a complaint was lodged at Hayatabad police station. The complaint was registered by a male student on 14th July 2017, accusing the principal of sexually exploiting students including girls and filming them secretly by cameras installed in hidden spaces in the school campus.
A trial court has framed charges against him on eight counts under the Pakistan Penal Code. They include Section 53 (sexual abuse) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Act 2010, Section 50 (seducing a child), Sections 48 (child pornography), Sections 48 (child pornography), Section 509 (sexual harassment), Section 489-C (counterfeit currency), Section 497 (adultery), Section 377-B (sexual abuse of child), Section 376 (punishment for rape) and Section 354-A (stripping a woman of her clothes).
Ataullah Marwat is handed various jail terms under each section as has been found guilty of all these charges, resulting in a total 105 years jail term.
25 direct and indirect victims of Marwat’s vile behaviour came forward and recorded their statements, while it is believed that majority of them chose to stay silent due to societal constraints primarily. One of the charges against him were that he lured girls under the age of 18 into sexual activities, exposed their bodies and abused the minor girls.
He has also been found guilty of then filming the girls on his mobile phone. Marwat admitted to all these charges following his arrest and accepted he used to bring women with the sole purpose of adultery. He added that it is his ‘hobby’ to make videos of the sexual activities as well.
