Philippine President orders forces to ‘shoot dead’ anyone who causes trouble during lockdown

So far, there are 3,660 cases in the Philippines, with the death toll rising to 163.

President of Philippine Rodrigo Duterte has ordered security forces to shoot dead anyone, who causes trouble in areas of lockdown.

At the moment, about half of the country’s 110 million is in quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hours before Duterte’s statement, 24 people were arrested in the capital Manila for holding a protest against the government for failing to provide help to the poor.

The President said his orders are to the military, police and village officials that if there is trouble or people fight and your lives are on the line, then shoot them dead.

‘’Instead of causing trouble, I’ll send you to the grave’’, he said. Further adding that the COVID-19 outbreak is worsening day by day. The lockdown has shuttered businesses and halted all business, religious and social activities.
