The source added that PIA losses have come down from Rs 32 billion to Rs 11 billion during the last year.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has finally started to show signs of improvement due to the effective policies of the current government.
According to an official source, the national flag carrier has recorded a staggering decrease of 65.6 percent in its losses during 2019. The source added that PIA losses have come down from Rs 32 billion to Rs 11 billion during the last year.
In accordance with a written reply by the Aviation Division to the upper house of the parliament, enhancing revenues and curtailment of costs has helped PIA decrease its losses.
“The revenue side is being addressed by improving market shares through realigning sales team’s, manning stations on merit, aggressive sales promotion, improvement in product and services, focusing on revenue generation through ancillary sources, mounting new flights and expanding on existing productive routes such as KSA and Gulf,” wrote the Aviation division.
The costs of PIA were reduced mainly due to the austerity drive and a significant reduction in unnecessary administrative expenses. Furthermore, Pakistan International Airlines also cut down on its loss-making routes which helped it decrease losses.
