PIA officials involved in COVID-19 special ‘flight ticketing scam’ worth Rs. 8 million
The PIA officials were accommodating passengers with ‘outdated’ tickets by charging them extra money.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has discovered a COVID-19 special ‘flight ticketing scam’. Corruption worth Rs. 8 million was done in the sale of tickets for the special flights going to Europe.
More than 50 ticket holders, who were traveling to Italy and France, had been accommodated by PIA officials in Sialkot. These officials violated the rules for personal gains. However, this scam was not pulled off by PIA officials alone, in fact, some travel agents were also involved.
The special flight policy
According to the special flight policy, from the mid of March, no passenger who had a ticket issued before the international flights were suspended, was to be accommodated for any destination under any circumstances.
After the disruption caused by the global pandemic, PIA has been issuing tickets for the international flight operations at fares ‘double’ than the regular tickets.
The PIA officials were accommodating passengers with ‘outdated’ tickets by charging them extra money. The officials have confirmed that all the culprits involved in this act have inquiries launched against them.
