PM Imran Khan discusses Afghanistan situation with Saudi, Emirati, and Qatari leaders in separate phone calls on Sunday

The premier discussed bilateral ties and Afghanistan situation with the Arab leaders.

PM discusses Afghanistan situation with Muslim leaders Sunday was an important day for the Prime Minister, Imran Khan, as he held detailed telephone conversations with key Arab leaders.

The premier discussed the situation in Afghanistan with the Crown Princes of Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, as well as the Qatari Emir in separate phone calls.

The details of the phone calls were disclosed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Saudi Arabia

According to details, PM Imran Khan held a telephone conversation with the Saudi Crown Prince and de facto ruler, Mohammad bin Salman (MbS).

During the phone call, the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan.

PM Imran Khan reaffirmed the South Asian country’s commitment to bolster “fraternal ties” with the Kingdom.

The premier lauded the initiatives taken by the Kingdom to tackle the ongoing ‘climate crisis’ and thanked MbS for inviting him to the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI).

The two leaders also had a detailed conversation about the latest developments unfolding in Afghanistan.The premier stressed that a stable and peaceful Afghanistan would be beneficial for the whole region.

He also remarked that the international community is responsible for rebuilding Afghanistan by ensuring economic stability and providing humanitarian assistance.

Both the leaders agreed that an inclusive political settlement would be beneficial for Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, both leaders agreed to bolster and diversify bilateral ties in all spheres.

United Arab Emirates (UAE)

According to details, PM Imran Khan also held a telephone conversation with the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and de facto ruler, Mohammad bin Zayed (MbZ).

During the phone call, the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and regional developments, particularly in Afghanistan.

PM Imran Khan emphasized the importance of a stable and peaceful Afghanistan for the region and urged that inclusive political settlements were the way forward.

The premier underscored that the international community must remain engaged to rebuilding Afghanistan by ensuring economic stability and providing humanitarian assistance.

Meanwhile, PM Imran Khan congratulated MbZ for its excellent arrangements for the upcoming Expo 2020 (Dubai).

Both the leaders also agreed to boost collaboration in all areas of common interest.

Qatar

PM Imran Khan held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as well.

During the phone call, the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan.

PM Imran Khan reaffirmed the South Asian country’s commitment to bolster political and economic partnership with the Arab Gulf state.

The premier also expressed gratitude for Qatar’s assistance during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, PM Imran Khan underscored the importance of a stable and peaceful Afghanistan for the region.

The premier urged that the international community remain “positively engaged” with Afghans by providing aid and helping them rebuild their country.

Both the leaders also agreed to remain in “close contact” on bilateral matters, as well as regional and international issues, of mutual interest.
