PM Khan to give industry status to the construction sector

After the implementation of the decision, the construction sector would also be given the same facilities as provided to other industries in Pakistan.

In a meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to give industry status to the construction sector.

Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme

The Prime Minister has stressed on an early implementation of the decision as Rs25 billion has been assigned for the first phase of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.

The Adviser on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, the Chairman of Naya Pakistan Housing Authority, General (retd) Anwar Ali Haider, representative of the Association of Builders and Developers Muhammad Hasan Bakhshi, and other senior officers attended the meeting.

After the implementation of the decision, the construction sector will be given the same facilities as provided to other industries in Pakistan.

The PM called the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) to play a significant role in addressing issues concerning the construction sector.

Top Priority of the Government

The PM further said that the promotion of the construction sector is one of the top priorities of the government. It would speed up the economic growth in the country, as it is associated with more than 40 sectors.

During the meeting, the adviser on finance said, “Substantial progress had been made during numerous interactions with the ABAD representative and other concerned people regarding the problems being faced by the construction sector.”
