PM Khan pays half price to use the car gifted by Malaysian PM

The Malaysian High Commissioner in Pakistan delivered a Proton X70 automobile to Minister for Commerce Razzak Dawood for Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has paid Rs3 million (half price) to the government for acquiring the car for his personal use. The Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Muhammad presented the car to PM Khan.

Standard Procedure:

The standard procedure for the gifts that are presented to the government functionaries is to deposit it with Tosha Khana. Once the gift is deposited, the functionary can keep it for himself after paying half the price of the assessed value of the item

The proton car is a Malaysian brand and it will soon be available in Pakistan through local manufacturing. The car is worth Rs6 million. However, PM Khan has paid half the price of the car and purchased it according to the rules.
