A member of provincial assembly belonging to Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) has been accused of sexually assaulting and blackmailing a university student. According to the application submitted with a local magistrate for her medical examination, she said that allegedly she had been repeatedly subjected to sexual abuse over the course of 11 months.

The alleged victim, who is a university student from Multan said that PMLN MPA Attaur Rehman raped her and blackmailed her that if she tells it to anyone else, she would post her rape video on social media. MPA Attaur Rehman was elected from PP-210 (Khanewal) in the 2018 general elections.

The alleged victim, who is a first-year student of MSCS at the National College of Business Administration & Economics (NCBAE) in Multan, added that due to the culprit’s political influence, police refused to lodge a complaint. Despite her multiple attempts to reach out to them, they refused to cooperate.

The MPA abused her during a ‘work’ meeting:

The victim originally belongs from Lahore but was in Multan because of studies. Ever since she relocated to the city, she was working with an NGO Pakistan Human Development Foundation.  (PHDF).

Both met for office work where the culprit raped her and also filmed the incident. Following that, he kept on blackmailing her to have sex with him or else he will post it on social media. This went on for 11 months until he sodomized her and she was hospitalized. She then went to lodge a complaint.

She also attached the WhatsApp messages and her medical examination reports with the application. The court has directed to take stern action on her complaint. Reportedly, the victim was approached by the MPA to drop charges in return of Rs. 70 million as well.
