After the attack by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Amarinder Singh, Punjab Chief Minister, on the eve of the opening of the Kartarpur corridor, Navjot Singh Sidhu’s supporters put up posters, deeming him and Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, the real heroes of Kartarpur.

The gathering was assembled by Harpal Singh Verka, Amritsar Municipal Councilor, who has been a close help to Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The hoarding, with Imran Khan and Navjot Singh Sidhu’s images, called them the real heroes, whose efforts made Kartarpur possible.

In spite of that, the hoardings, which gathered on Tuesday afternoon, were lowered within the span of a few hours.

Posters of Imran Khan and Navjot Singh Sidhu which were put up in Amritsar, have been taken down forcefully by RSS supporters. However, Harpal Singh asked supporters to gather out of Navjot Singh’s ‘Kothi’ since the posters were removed.

“Imran Khan had asked his friend Navjot Singh Sidhu what he can do for him as he visited his swearing-in ceremony in Pakistan. Sidhu put forth a demand before Imran Khan that the Kartarpur corridor is opened for Sikh devotees. I put up hoardings of my own as I wanted to send out the message to the people about Sidhu’s role in getting the corridor opened,” – Harpal Singh Verka stated.

Navjot Singh, the Congress leader, was the first-ever politician from India to receive the invitation to Kartarpur’s opening ceremony. He has been granted permission to visit Pakistan for the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor, which is going to take place on 9th November 2019.

Supporters of Navjot Singh Sidhu want all credit of the Kartarpur corridor to go to him, but Chief Minister Amrinder Singh and Sukhbir Singh Badal were in a dispute on the issue of who’ll lead the first group of pilgrims to Kartarpur.

SGPC and Punjab Government were in a disagreement on the issue of a common stage being set up to inaugurate the corridor. A separate stage has been set up by SGPC, which is supported by Akali Dal, which is parallel to the stage that Punjab government set up.

Akali Dal is in favor of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu to lead the pilgrims to Pakistan, but the supporters of Amrinder Singh have already announced that he’ll be leading the pilgrims, which also includes former PM, Manmohan Singh.
