Many leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have criticized the government over the quirky statue of the late poet, Allama Iqbal.

In 2010, the then president, Asif Ali Zardari, approved millions for the monument when floodwater devastated the country and 20 million people as well.
According to an official, the statue of the late national poet was constructed by two gardeners over the period of three months.
The former director of the park, Ghulam Sibtain, said, ” We did not spend any state money to make this selfie point. We requested some older people who come to the park daily to help us with funds in the statue’s making.”
