INHUMAN: Pregnant elephant dies after residents feed it fruit filled with firecrackers
The incident attracted outrage on social media after a forestry officer, shared an emotional apology to the elephant
A pregnant elephant died in India reportedly after fruit exploded in her mouth which was stuffed with a firecracker.
The incident attracted outrage on social media after a forestry officer, Mohan Krishnan, shared an emotional apology to the elephant on May the 30th. He said the animal died from eating a fruit-filled with a firecracker.
According to Forestry Officials, the incident happened on the 23rd of May in Kerala. The farmers there often scatter explosives concealed in fruit to frighten away animals , and to protect their crops.
The forestry official, Sunil Kumar, said, “We only know that some explosive substance caused the injury.” The perpetrators, he said, could face animal torture charges that could bring penalties or even a jail term.
India has the world’s largest population of the Asiatic elephant, but they are categorized as an endangered species. Incidents of human-animal conflict are common in the area as elephants often walk into human settlements hunting for food.
The officials added, “The pregnant elephant had wandered out of the local Silent Valley National Park in search of food when the ill-fated incident happened.”
They later found the elephant was trying to cool herself in a stream, but as locals attempted to heave her out of the water to take her to a treatment Centre, the animal collapsed and died.

The #KeralaElephantMurder represents the worst humanity has to offer.
It is astonishing how Man never fails to amaze in their cruelty towards other living beings. None deserve cruelty.
