President Alvi directs banks to guarantee implementation of 2% job quota for disabled people
Banks must help disabled people through financial welfare programs and ensure the government of Pakistan’s 2% quota for them in the jobs- President Alvi
In a meeting on Friday, the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi directed all banks of the country to guarantee the implementation of disabled quota in banks, train people and give them jobs.
The President said that since special people are hardworking, the institutions should encourage them, including the women. They must be on priority, as the government cannot leave them alone.
Two Percent Quota
Dr Alvi further stated, “Banks must help disabled people through financial welfare programs and ensure the government of Pakistan’s 2% quota for them in the jobs.”
The President said, “Several private institutions have employed the disabled persons, you can ease them through special programs, and the government will give you full assistance and help in this regard.”
Earlier, the President of the State Bank of Pakistan, Dr Reza Baqir, said, “The SBP and other banks have taken many initiatives for disabled persons like employment, ramps, wheelchair facilities in their branches and financial and credit guarantee schemes.
Presidents of banks also proposed taking digital/ E-banking initiatives, education and skills training programs for disabled persons.
First Lady Mrs Samina Alvi and CEOs of many banks attended the meeting.
